The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America announces that Thursday, March 7th, 2019 will be the last day of the month of Jumada al-Thania, 1440 A.H. and Friday, March 8th, 2019, will be the first day of the month of Rajab, 1440 A.H. for the entire region of North America.

This determination is based on the fact that there were no verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 in any region of North America.

We ask God, the Most High, for success in performing good deeds and hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (p).

This determination is based on the fact that there verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 from many locations.

The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that the crescent moon of the month of Safar, 1440 A.H. was sighted by the naked eye in the south/west region of the United States during the sunset of Tuesday, October 9th, 2018.

Based on the Multiplicity of Horizons opinion, the first of the month of Safar, 1440 A.H will be Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, for all of the United States and most parts of Canada.

We ask God, the Most High, for success in performing good deeds and hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (p).
