To the respected believers in North America,
Peace be upon you.
According to astronomical data, the predominant possibility for the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan this year will be on Saturday, April 25, 2020 for all regions of North America. (See visibility curve below.)
For the believers residing in Southern California and regions in the vicinity, there is a very low possibility of sighting the crescent moon in San Diego during the sunset of Thursday, April 23rd. If sighted, this would make Friday the beginning of the month for those areas only.
We hope that the respected believers will patiently wait for the announcement by the Crescent Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America, which will be issued late Thursday.
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
On behalf of the Crescent Committee,
Sayyid M. Rizvi, Secretary-General
