To the respected believers in North America,

Peace be upon you. The Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America would like to announce that Monday, November 24, 2014 will be the first day of the month of Safar 1436 for the entire region of North America. This determination was made due to reports of verified sightings of the crescent moon at sunset on Sunday, November 23, in many regions of North America. Thus, Arbaeen, the anniversary of the 40th day of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (as), will be on Saturday, December 13, 2014. We ask God Almighty to give us success and help us in reaping the fullest of benefits from honoring the sacred signs of the Ahl al-Bayt (as) and to increase their remembrance among ourselves, our family, and our friends. Finally, we ask Allah Almighty to hasten the return of our Master, the Lord of the Age and Time (ajfs). The Crescent Committee
